Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Each October, the breast cancer community gathers to raise awareness and garner support for the fight against breast cancer. There are many ways to support the more than 232,340 women who will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. Below are a few opportunities to get involved and find support in the Louisville area.
- Making Strides Against Breast Cancer The American Cancer Society will host their 2013 event on October 27 at Waterfront Park. Registration for the 3 to 5 mile walk begins at 11 a.m. and the walk begins at 1 p.m. Visit their website for more information.
- James Graham Brown Cancer Center Breast Cancer Support Group Our hospital partner hosts a breast cancer support group with Gilda’s Club Louisville. The program is led by cancer care professionals and is supported in part by Louisville’s Susan G. Komen for the Cure. For more information, visit their website.
- Volunteer Organizations like Susan G. Komen of Louisville and Gilda’s Club need volunteers to help with events and office tasks.
Louisville CyberKnife treats certain metastases with stereotactic body radiation therapy using CyberKnife® technology.
