Kentucky has long ranked among the states with the highest death and incidence rate for lung cancer and an article from the Courier Journal explains the pitfalls and attempted progress the state has made to combat this ongoing issue.
The article cites a report from the U.S. Surgeon General highlighting the decline in smoking rates, but also notes that as the nation’s smokers have declined, more Kentuckians have actually picked up the addiction.
